"The new Version 9 is Spectacular!
I like the new interface, and the speed controls work perfectly.
I did not see how you could improve this excellent program, but you did an excellent job with things that I never thought about! I would also like to add that "I've convinced many of my internet friends to purchase Your Program, and many have written me telling me that it's the Easiest and Best music program that they've ever used!"
Thank You so much! Great job!"

Tom Biddle, Oklahoma USA

"What I like about this programme including version 9 is that you never have to learn a new way of doing things. As an aged user, I can still go and do what I always have done and just learn the new tweaks to a tried and trusted programme.
I have tried the 78rpm setting on a couple of old records I have in my possession (don't like to admit that), perfect!, just a click and your up and running.
Great fun playing with the speed controls on some recordings.
Good work guys."

Ken McAlindon, UK

"Polderbits recorder and editor has always been far better that the other recorders on the market. Friends that see how my recorder and editor works are amazed on how easy and good it work compared to theirs."

Ernest Lombard, Colorado USA

"I have a very large HO scale model railroad. While looking through a catalog, I spotted a motorized Dutch windmill similar to the one used in the PolderbitS logo. When it arrived, I assembled it and I was amazed at the great size. I decided to paint it the chartreuse color of the PolderbitS logo.
As it will not match anything else, it will really stand out and as people ask me about it, I will have an opportunity to tell them about your great audio, video, and telephone recording products. I discovered your web site by accident, but everyone needs to know about your quality products quickly so that they can move their favorite older recordings onto the newest media.
Plus, in these times of uncertainty, your new telephone message software is an easy way to keep a record of the actual content of any conversation.
In addition, your customer support is second to none. My best to you all"

"I really like the new v8 feature 'Better sound source selection support on modern computers' which I was able to make a new phone ringtone from a youtube clip. Excellent!!"

Julian Mann, ACT Australia

"A stable and strong software, where quality, trust and service last longest and I enjoy it very much. WONDERFUL!!!"

Hans v. Z, The Netherlands

"I have used polderbits to record 700 plus vinyl singles and 100 plus LP'S. I have also copied hours of cassette tapes via a walkman all of this was simple using polderbits a very uncomplicated system giving fantastic results with it's ease of use which also allows the user to back track and correct mistakes without having to rerecord. I had tested many devices which I felt were over complicated with to many functions and jargon I did not understand. It should also be noted that your customer service was the same quick efficient and uncomplicated just like the recorder it's self.
Keep it up."

Duncan Campbell, Kent, United Kingdom

When I casually drop it into a barroom conversation that, "I think I'll head home just a bit early, I thought of some LPs I haven't played for awhile and I'd like to transfer them to my PC so I can use them on my pocket player," I've noticed that the women fall silent -- I see their surprised, yearning looks, as if they have awakened to something in me that's gone unnoticed until then -- while the guys, trying to disguise their startled envy, hoist their glasses to smother mumbled observations like, "Gee, I didn't realize that was even possible. How can he do it?"

I have been using PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor for four years, to record music LPs and cassettes, and to digitize dictation cassettes for my work. I particularly like the ease with which I can record an entire LP side, then divide it into tracks and include fade ins and outs if I want them. You've made continuous, substantial improvements to the program without violating the original simplicity of operation and its compact size.

It's especially refreshing compared to programs like Nero, which are huge, and are advertised as doing everything, and yet are a clumsy nuisance to use for anything. For cost-to-usefulness ratio, in other words, value, I don't have own another program that equals yours.

Paul Berk, Brooklyn, USA

"WOW!
You folks hit this one out of the ball park. I just finished wringing out your pre-release of version and it's an absolutely outstanding upgrade. I found no glitches in installation or performance. The filters and equalizer work beautifully. (the real-time feature is a nice touch for fine tuning).

Thanks for continuing to improve an already outstanding product."

James Folan, Cloudcroft, USA

"Thank so much for allowing me to test your new beta recorder. I Have tried several other 'audio cleaners'. NONE had worked to my satisfaction until I tried your new Build 78. I was excited beyond my wildest dreams as to its effectiveness in removing unwanted noise. I use a Creative platium 2ZS sound card, and GOOD sound is very important to me. I have an extensive collection of 78's, 45's, & LP records I am recording to CD's. I am retired, and use the Polderbits recorder/editor about 5 hours each day."

Joe Bateman, Little Rock, USA

"After using the last release of your Sound Recorder and Editor, I thought that adding anything to the program would make it more difficult to use. I needed the additions since I record a lot of songs off of old tapes and old movies, but hated to lose the simplicity.

Congratulations to your programmers, the usefulness of the program has tripled while keeping the simplicity that I've grown to love to use. With one button click I can access all of the new additions when I need them and hide them when I don't.

Rerecording my scratchy old tape of 'Oklahoma' was just as easy as before, but the new additions made it simple and easy to clean it up much better than my attempts with "Nero". I didn't have to change any of the settings to get a much better recording, plus I didn't have to suffer through opening a 2nd program for the cleanup.
Throughout all of the recording sessions, one thing stood out as especially useful... the red marks that showed the effects of the filters on the recording.
Although I've only used it several times, the improvements stand out sharply. I can't say that very often about upgraded software.
I ran across 0 bugs and annoyances. I'm confident that I'll not have to send a second email later to report something else needed or something unneeded. This update is truly perfect.

congrats again..."

Nick Santovito, Lawrenceville, USA

"To Whom it may concern: I just d.ld. bld 81, and I am so pleased and impressed with the expeditious way your company addresses the concerns of your clients. I love the Polderbits software, just for the ease of operating at a level of basic knowledge, and realizing there is so much more available than just recording and basic editing. Pleased to be part of your group."

Jim Puliti, Trenton, USA

"This is what I've been waiting for!! I downloaded version 4 today. The download took only about 4 minutes (with a dial-up modem, that's important, too). The install worked without having to enter my access key again.

I have recorded over 200 albums in Polderbits. The albums are all old and scratched. I usually record them to Polderbits then run each individual cut through a program called Wave Purity to clean the scratches. I like that program, but dislike having to run each song through two programs. It took so much time. Now that Polderbits gives me the technology to 'clean' the scratches- I don't need the other program.

Version 4 cleans the scratches thoroughly. I was worried the cleaning might cause a drop in the audio- or worse, a complete 'skip' of the music. I didn't hear that at all! The music flowed cleanly.

I record and burn all my music to cd in .wav format. The sound is so much richer. I like that I can still use .wav files with the new program. The noise filter worked great! I tried an old cassette I had in the office- and almost all the tape hiss was taken out.

I like that I can save the 'raw' audio and the cleaned audio.

I didn't think I would care about 'real time'- but I was wrong. Listening to the original version- then the cleaned version of a song immediately was so nice.

I work at a radio station. We use Adobe and some other proprietary programs- but I had my boss buy Polderbits, too! The quick record- ease of saving and quick loading of saved programs all made your product the best.

I am sorry I don't have any criticism. The ONLY thing I might suggest in the future is making the wave form window in the editor a little taller and wider.

Thank you so much for these new options!!!
I'll never buy another digital recorder again!"

Kathy Lepak, Grand Rapids, USA

"Excellent job folks. The most best make over of an already excellent program. The new filters and equalizer are a huge help. Kudos."

Bruce Lyon, Branford, USA

"Greetings from the Chicago, Il area -

Wanted to report in with my thoughts on the new build. In short, it's great! I've had no problems, bugs or anything yet and I've used it with my own created music, restored some LPs and cassettes, worked with downloaded and ripped mp3's and WAV's and prepped some cassette tape sermons of my fathers to upload as streaming audio at his website -- so it's had a varied workout. When I first read about this I was a little confused and apprehensive - They're going to take my beloved Polderbits and muck it all up - because I love it for being so small and utilitarian. But what you've added is the basic items that improve any sound recording, be it LP conversion to editing your own music. If I want bells and whistles I can always throw it into Cool Edit, but 90 percent of the time I just want to clean up the extraneous noise and sweeten (equalize--usually lower the bass )the sound a bit. And you didn't mess with the editing feature which is my alltime favorite -- right click a start, a stop, a fade-in or out -- beautiful! For getting old analog recordings to sound their best in a very user-friendly program, I've never used anything better--and considering the price, wallet-friendly-- or easier. If I was working for Polderbits I would really target this for people who want to change their records to sound files so they can put them on CD but don't know how exactly and aren't very tech-savvy - i have a brother in Arizona who'd love this and I'll send him your url today. I know many people like him who seemingly try all kinds of stuff but just don't get the hang of it and quit in frustration -- don't know how many of these programs he's bought except for "a lot" and the only LPs of his that are on CD are the ones I did for him when I stayed with him 2 years ago. This is the most user-friendly software for doing that that I've used. (And trust me, I've used everything out there at least once.) At present I've had about 3 different programs I use and it didn't seem to matter which one -- media digitizer, Magix Audio Cleaner (which I still have yet to get the results I want from their complicated settings panels that they claim is so easy) and RIP Vinyl on stuff that doesn't need much work but it's really like musical chairs because the 3 i have and use are changing all the time-- most work ok but are usually huge and offer a ton of stuff rarely needed and which in the hands of someone not familiar with music or editing music can lead to some very weird sounding music . I'm not a professional but I've had 5 years of experience creating, editing and producing music on my computer and I'm still adopting your program as my main go-to guy. Between Polderbits for 90 percent of what I need and Cool Edit, I've got all the bases covered (and look at the difference in cost, especially when you consider that the considerably more expensive one is the one I'll be hardly using.). Thanks for making an upgrade this truly is one and not just a bloated addition of bells and whistles that are only there because they can be put there to make the face look impressive."

Mike Cormany, Aurora, USA

"Dear Polder Team, I must say that i've tested the new release, and I must say "outstanding" as you maybe know, my pc has a 450 Mhz processor, but it works wonderful on it, slow but perfect, and I wonder if other panel members who have a faster processor like 2 or 3 Gb have problems with this release, because i've noticed that sometime programs fails on faster pc's.
for the rest I have no further comment, i shall remove the release from the Pc, and i will wait, till you notify me when the original version will be ready."

Bert Balke, Velsen, The Netherlands

"I really appreciate the time and effort you put into the Sound Recorder/Editor. I have used it for some time now and each new version is up to the same high standard I have come to expect from your software.

Thank you again for your time, effort, and diligence."

Robert L. Stevenson, Carlyle, USA
"A Very Happy User"

"Thank you for giving me the chance to assess the new Sound Recorder and Editor. I have been using Polderbits to copy mostly old Audio Tapes, some Soundtracks from Video Tapes and a few old Vinyl Records. The equalizer is most effective in enhancing all copies from all sources.
The filters are best used on the Vinyl Records copies but must be used at their lower levels of sensitivity. If the Click filter is set above midway, the clicks actually appear to become amplified.
Overall the addition of the advanced section is a very good improvement without being too complicated."

Arnold Nees, Paraparaumu, New Zealand

"What has impressed me so far in testing the polderbits version 78 is the click and crackle filter, it does reduce crackle and click when recording from old vinyl records, the vinyl recordings that I had difficulty listening to have cleaned up very well, all along I have been impressed with this software, what you offer for the price that you ask is very good value, back to the testing."

John Dudley, Sydney, Australia

"I did download the test release when I first received the notice and I have tried it as much as I could and have found no problems with it. I did have a few files that were a bit noisy and it cleaned them up where previous versions had not so i was quite happy with that.

The program is getting a bit more complicated with more choices in the various menus so I needed a bit of time to work out what they were about. Please do not change the format of your recorder or I will be totally lost. i have used other programs and as they improve them they get to the stage where it is no longer possible to use them easily. Yours has been extremely good and one of the easiest to use. No bells an whistles just excellent functionality. Keep up this style and I will be happy. Everything I had time to try worked fine for me."

James Smith, Woodridge, Australia

"Thank you for allowing me to test the new version of Polderbits.

My first test with it was cruel and unfair. I used an old 78 which was barely worth listening to, but one of my favorites never-the-less. The initial recording was without use of the new version, it cleaned up a bit. However, after using the new version I now have a CD of my favorite 78. Approximately 80% of the scratch, hiss, skip's, etc., was eliminated.

I then used it on some of my 33 !/3 that were not recording quality, but this new version took care of that. I'm very pleased. It is very easy to use and very effective. I have a complete collection of Al Hirt and Danny Davis, their trumpets come through clean and clear now. Chopin's piano never sound better and the Nut Cracker on surround sound is as if I were there. I can now say I have approximately 200 more albums to put on CD's. Thanks for listening to your customers and keep up the good work, darn you guys (and gals?) are good!"

Jim Potter, Conroe, USA

"What a FABULOUS job you guys have done with this latest!!! I downloaded it right away and have been trying it out on some already made CD's I did from my old cassette tapes using the original Polderbits recorder/editor. One recording my girlfriend did almost 20 years ago with her own background music with her singing had sounded so "tinny" when I converted her tape to a CD and sent it to her -- she was delighted -- but now with this new version with the filters I'm going to re-do it and send her the new version.....and what a difference it was to hear when I compared the original CD I'd made with the version on the Sound Editor on my hard drive!..[...]
….Thanks, and again my congratulations to all of the experts you have there who have come up with this remarkable Editor and for such a CHEAP price, too!! (don't raise it, however!!!)"

Gail Shamp, East Wenatchee, USA

"Thank you for considering me to evaluate your latest version. I had no problems with installation (except when I open the program it says it is an evaluation) I had no problems putting record to hard drive or with the new features taking click and crackle etc. out of the sound. For being the type of program it is an excellent achievement. Simple and functional. If there are any complaints from me they are small. I would have liked to have saved my setup after exiting the program.
The program does the job on smaller clicks and reduces the larger ones, but I would have liked to be able to manually remove the larger clicks which remain after editing.
I will continue to evaluate and return more information, and thanks once again for giving me a chance to be part of your wonderful program."

Joe Rados, Melbourne, Australia

"I have used the new version with some of my oldest 45's (Vinyl) which with age were getting pretty noisy and found the 'Clicks & Crackle' filter worked very well in cleaning them up. Most of the music that I use your program for is to record from LP's and 45's to CD's I do record from some tapes to CD's and I did try on one rather old tape. I used the noise filter which again worked quite well. I'm not very good with the use of the equalizer so I can not give you a report on it usefulness.
[…]
Thanks again for a very fine program, I have been using it for several years through several versions and have never been disappointed."

Cloyce Bowers, DeMotte, USA

"Many thanks again for the update.

I find everything simple to use and very successful in cleaning up the vinyl recordings. As a novice in this sort of thing I find the equalizer a bit puzzling? Not knowing what all the readings mean or do. Is there any way you could put any sort of description instead of the DB and HZ? great for accuracy and sound but I haven't got a damn clue what I'm playing with, just a matter of fiddling around until it sounds right. Although you have included many file types I find it disappointing that you cant edit Real Audio. I have a lot of these files (no longer record in this format) that I cant control.. !"

Ken McAlindon, Rothwell, United Kingdom

"just a short note to say that I have been very impressed with the improvements, and have not yet had a single problem on my machine."

Antony Futter, Johannesburg, South Africa

"….I really like the PolderbitS user interface better than the DAK ( they have a 2 inch square window which is used to show part of the name of the track being fixed) and the setup options seem more extensive than the DAK. I love what I call PolderbitS real time 'preview' window that lets me see what was removed by marking it in red. DAK has an audible only (no waveform) 'preview' mode which is totally useless because it takes several minutes for it to load a 5 second slice of the 'doctored' track. The DAK software takes several passes thru the media cleaning the large clicks separately from the smaller pops. The DAK filtering process is longer than PolderbitS but the saving of the fixed track takes longer with the PolderBitS program than it does with the DAK, making the overall time required about the same for both programs.

The equalizer function seems to work OK and I like having it as an option. I have not tried the noise filter on old tapes yet…."

Clifton Perry, Ontario, USA

"Thank you very much for allowing me to test your new software.
May I say that your last version of the sound recorder/editor is one of the most valuable pieces of software that I have. I found it very easy to use and the ability to record from any source was amazing.

I have put your new recorder through it's paces and found that the extra features were an excellent addition.

I chose a track that I have on vinyl single which had lots of crackles and clicks.
I understand that most software has limitations, but I found that I could not eliminate any of the clicks or crackles on the track.
When using the Click and Crackle Filter at it's highest level, I found that bits of the track dropped out. When I set it lower, no clicks or crackles disappeared.
On the plus side, I did find that the Noise Filter was very good, especially when I recorded a cassette track. It lowered the background hiss considerably to improved the quality of the track.
The Equalizer was also a very good tool for improving a track. I found that with a little playing about, the quality of the same cassette track was improved even more.
I will continue to test the recorder/editor and will continue to send you any information I can.
Thank you once again for allowing me to test it, I still think that you have a high quality piece of software and I will continue to use it in the future."

"Thank you for advising me on how to use your product correctly. I have improved the quality of my recording by using the Equalizer, together with the Click & Crackle remover, and the results are great."

Paul Bennett, Wales, United Kingdom

"I just finished recording the old Glenn Miller records for my mothers xmas present. Your advice with regard to the high frequency drop outs was spot on! I downloaded the new prerelease build (80) this morning and I've been using it since 9AM(5 hrs 38 min total). This version is truly fantastic ! I can't find a single thing wrong with it. PolderbitS is going to give Musicmatch, and Winamp a run for their money. You have a most superior product, and I'm very grateful I can use it. I know I'm going to be using it a lot, and I'm going to suggest PolderbitS to others."

Tom Austin, Canada

"Have just opened this release today. Tried it out on some old early 60's tape. With the little effort there was a vast improvement in hearing quality. Just gotta try it out on some old 8 track tapes next. Expect with experience and tweaking my skills will improve, but it will take a while."

Cal Callender, Ottawa, Canada

"I have just completed testing out the click and crackle reduction system and found it to be very effective. To see how effective it works I used a very scratched up old record album and did a recording with the filters on 50% then with them on full. It was very impressive how much noise they did remove. When recording, I have the record levels at about half way and the clicks were so bad the meters were jumping up into the red. There was some noise left in the final recording but the original was in such bad shape I am amazed at how much of the noise the filter did remove. I'm quite sure that if you were to record a vinyl album with just a small amount of scratches this filter would be most effective in making it almost perfect. Very good job indeed !!
I will have to reconfigure my wiring to do a test on the tape noise reduction and will send a report on that aspect later.

A very satisfied customer."

"I haven't had the time to evaluate the tape noise reduction yet but will do so as soon as possible and relay my thoughts on that as well. I've enjoyed using the recorder right from the first version I had and your upgrades are just making it better and better unlike some products where the upgrades just seem to make the product more difficult to use. I am vision impaired by macular degeneration and ease of use is a big factor with me due to being unable to read extensive manuals etc."

Stephen Seymour, Hamilton, Canada

"Your software continues to amaze me. Polderbits works without problem on my Pentium IV and XP. Most of my recording is radio programming. I love the new graphics equalizer. I really needed some way to adjust volume and sound quality. Thank you!!! And the new controls were so easy to figure out. Zero frustration. Nice Job!

The code must be made in heaven. So compact. Yow. I have never had trouble running it in the background through my sound card. Polderbits Rules!!!"

William Badovinac, Toronto, Canada

"First let me just say thanks for including such valuable technology to an already great and simple to use program. I remember some time back when this was being considered, I was very interested, having a very old vinyl collection, and your company expressed concern because it is difficult to isolate just noise and cracks without altering the original sound.
I had recorded a lot of my collection and had stopped because I was getting to the older more noisy records. With the prerelease I spent hours recording and editing some of my worst records. Here are some of my thoughts.

The ability to set a filter and easily click between the original and the filtered version is tremendous. You can in fact hear the results immediately. The equalizer provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and really gives the user the ability to surgically pinpoint frequencies to alter and it works very well.
I have to say, however, that my records really did test the limits of the crack and pop filter. While the filter muffled the sound of the cracks and pops, it did not eliminate them (didn't really expect it) or reduce them to just a slight disturbance. I could still see the spike in many instances on the sound graph.
[...]
I have to say that the records sound better after the filter. Will continue to record and test, these are just my initial thoughts."

Michael Destefano, USA

"Credit where credit is due <an English saying>. People are too eager to complain about a product in this country where customers are often treated poorly. Many firms simply say 'Here's our product tough if you don't like it that much' fortunately your company has defied this law and I sit here listening to aged recordings which have now been saved for posterity in the digital domain for all to enjoy. Once again thanks for a great product."

"When playing a track in the editor there was a marked lag in the wave display window as the track played, that has now gone. The filtering seems to introduce less artefacts and all in all it worked with some pretty gruesome stuff I threw at it. For the market you seem to be aiming at<and beyond>this is a welcome addition to my PC and I'll be trying to convert people to Polderbits safe in the knowledge that there is a company that listens to it's customers, charges a fair price and whose software won't turn your PC into a pile of sluggish junk after installation. The best bit is how you managed it all in less than 1 MB.!!
In short brilliant stuff."

Mark Andrews, Bath, United Kingdom

"Have been using build 80 so far - seems excellent, no problems. Much appreciate scratch filter - if you turn it up to far it seems to remove all high frequencies to!

Also - you note the noise filter as 'for tapes' - works brilliantly on poor quality vinyl as well!"

Michael Parsons, Gloucester, United Kingdom
